Setting up an investment club- Singapore Smart Investors

Mission – To help you and everyone in Singapore to be a
better investor.

Activities – members meet once a week for 3-4 hours to learn
and share investment knowledge, experience, skills, and network with
like-minded people.

1. play cash flow game, monopoly or other strategy war game.
At the end of each game, each player must give a summary of his investment
style and how this game has helped him or her learn any valuable lesson. Cost
will be $2 per pax

2. recommend stock, property, business for investment ( Each
person will have an opportunity to present his or her story within 2 minutes). No
one may criticize the presenter at any time. Each person is free to listen and
analyse the investment based on his or her judgment.

3. dinner to discuss investment climate and theme, sectors
and industries. Cost will be by members.

4. learn about investing in small classes. Class size will
be limited to 10 students. Volunteers tutors will guide each member to be a
better investor. Cost will be decided by the individual tutor.

5. yearly stock pick competition. Prize money may be
solicited from financial institutions and banks. Prize awarded may be from the
club fund.

6. Story-telling and sharing session. Members may share
something that they have learn while reading a book, watching a video, hearing
a story from a friend, or anything that relates to investing. For eg; reading
the “The richest man in Babylon” I learnt about the importance of buying passive
income investment.

7. analyse stocks and companies and industries.

8. Dinner and dance for yearend celebrations.

9. members may form groups to specialize in different
industries and asset class like shipping, construction, commodities, retailers,
electronics, restaurant and property

10. books and magazines on investment may be rented out to
members at $2 for 1 month. Members may discuss various stocks and exchanged
opinions during these networking session.

The goal of the club is to provide members with interesting
and fun ways of learning investing. Making money is secondary. Excess funds
generated will be used for prizes in stock pick competitions, dinner and dance
to reward members.

Just asking, John, have you joined an investment club, or business networking session before? It's good to know how they operate if you intend to follow them.

Your ideas seems sound, it's the execution I'm not so sure.
