I bumped into this website thinking I could find some business for buying over or get some ideas about starting a business. Or create a business and sell them. Can't find them . => So I started this thread. Hopefully some people who are interested to sell a business and wanting to buy over a kind of business can start here....

Buy a business? In Singapore? I've never really heard of that before. Not from retail investors at least. Isn't it going to take a lot of money to buy a business?

Even so, if the return on investment is good, maybe we can band together to buy one.

But as Blacknight has put it. Wouldn't it take a lot of money to buy a business?

I believe you are interested in buying a business? If so where would your funds come from?

small start-up lah! My life savings.
Anyway, I do see some business for taking over in Singapore - cyber cafe, restaurant, tuition centre, mini-mart shop, boutique, saloon......many in some kind of website which I lost the link. Ranges from S$10K-S$200K.
Some offer partnership too!

There is a cyber-cafe in katong for sale. It is under the IT / Internet-related category.

Though it is useful, these does not seem to be as many businesses for sale in Singapore. Maybe our country is just too small.

Law of probabilities, small country, lesser shops, even lesser shops for sale.

Some people create and run a business and later sell it. My friend in Hong Kong ran a restaurant, and later sold the business to a big restaurant group. A famous business man in HK created a big telecommunication business(it was called orange) and sold his business to a European telecom group (who was thinking of penetrating Hong Kong market); it was a record personal business transaction.
You never know, you may have such a good business network/operation in Singapore and some company from China wants to buy over....?

There are many reasons for people to want to sell their business. It could be that they could better use their money elsewhere. Like if the business generated 10% of returns per annum for the business owner, and he knows he can get 20% returns elsewhere, he could pick the one with the higher returns.

Big companies with big budgets also can help to grow the company beyond what the founder could have hoped.

It could be the current business owner bought it from the founder and has no emotional attachment or feelings for the business, and is willing to re-sell the business when needed.

I reviewed it. It is basically a website that collects a list of other websites. My guess is the website owner is trying to promote this and increase the click counts so that later he/she can sell the domain name.

Ecash, there is NO real business for sale in the stated website.

This is definitely the correct site. I see Singaporean businesses for sale. Not cheap.

It does seem like a good idea to invest in a business too. It's the only investment that the ROI can actually be controlled.

2 objectives to buy an existing business:

1. Have money and don't want to waste time, buy a profitable company so that you can continue without the startup process. Usually profitable business is expensive as it comes with the business customers and suppliers base.

2. Take challenge of turning unprofitable business around. They have the product/services/license/agency rights, but lack business acumen and in the verge of giving up. You need to have ideas to turn it around. Again, no pain of starting from ground zero as it comes with existing customer base and suppliers. This option is usually cheaper.

Open your mind when you are looking into existing businesses. There are many details you need to cover as you have to investigate if the current owner is not hiding anything, while looking out for opportunity to fly that business after your acquisition.

Agree with FireBlazen that most people who want to sell their business(es) don't look in the web to sell it and most likely doesn't even know of the website's existence.

Most people create businesses to sell even though there are emotions attached to it (its like giving your child away). Over time, it gets easier. Many people sell their business when they are offered by a buyer instead of putting it up to sell before offered.

For immediate returns, its definitely worth selling instead of buying! Why i say that? Because the money you make from the sale of a biz are not taxable! Immediate, instant cash! If you'd like to know more info you can PM. Its easier to answer specific questions.
